This week I made a visit to Mundy veneers, my supplier of the thin sheets of wood which I use for making my boxes. I always find this an exciting time and highly critical in my making for the next few months. I purchased some lovely crown cut cherry and a new bundle of birds eye maple. I have already begun using the cherry, which is great with a lovely grain.
Sustainable timber
The wood I use comes from sustainable North American forests. I laminate the material I use for the lids and bottoms, this means that I only need to use 20% of the timber. It also ensures that there is no warping or shrinking of the boxes.
